Is Online Poker Legal in Ontario?

A plain-English explanation of Ontario’s regulated online poker market, 19+ requirement and physical-location rule.

Yes—real-money online poker is available through Ontario's regulated iGaming framework when offered by an authorized operator/site and the player meets the applicable requirements.

Two requirements players often miss

iGaming Ontario states that players must be 19 or older and physically located in Ontario to play on the regulated market. A Toronto address alone does not replace the physical-location requirement.

Who does what?

AGCOThe Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario regulates gaming, including registered internet-gaming operators and standards.
iGaming OntarioConducts and manages the competitive market through agreements with private operators and maintains the public regulated-operator directory.

Why operator status matters

The official regulated-market directory gives players a current way to verify whether a site is offered by an operator contracted by iGaming Ontario. TorontoPoker.org links to that directory rather than making permanent claims that may become stale.

Advertising is regulated too

AGCO reporting states that Ontario prohibits broad public advertising of bonuses, credits and other gambling inducements. That is one reason this site does not lead with “deposit bonus” tables.

What Ontario players should verify

Physical location matters

Ontario’s regulated online gambling framework is designed for eligible players located in the province. Operators use geolocation and identity checks as part of access to the regulated market, so an account or brand name alone is not enough to establish that play is available from every jurisdiction.

The regulator directory is the practical starting point

Rather than relying on search ads or an operator’s global website, check iGaming Ontario’s current list of regulated operators and sites. TorontoPoker.org dates its operator information because market participation can change over time.

Regulated does not mean risk-free

Regulation provides oversight and player-protection requirements, but poker still involves financial loss and variance. Set deposit and session limits appropriate to entertainment spending and use the operator’s responsible-gambling controls where needed.
