A starting stack only becomes meaningful when you divide it by the opening big blind.
The useful calculation
Starting chips ÷ opening big blind = starting big blinds. A 30,000 stack is 100 BB if the big blind is 300, but only 50 BB if the big blind is 600.

Why “more chips” can mislead
30,000 chips does not automatically mean a deeper or better structure than 20,000. Blind size, blind jumps and level length decide how quickly that stack loses purchasing power.
For your first tournament
Find the first big blind and convert the starting stack to big blinds. Then look at level length. Those two steps tell you much more than the marketing name.
