Trip planning

Poker rooms within about an hour of Toronto

Three rooms make up the short-trip network from Toronto. Which ones are really "an hour away" depends on where you start, what day it is and what the highways are doing.

Verified: room facts were checked against first-party venue pages on August 22, 2026. Travel times and live games change, so check them separately.

"Within an hour" is a plan, not a promise

Anyone who's driven the 401 at rush hour knows the same route can take far longer at 5:30 p.m. than at noon. Congestion, construction and weather all stretch it. So we don't promise that any room is always under 60 minutes from every part of Toronto. These are the rooms that can fit a shorter regional trip under good conditions.

Where you start does most of the work. Pickering is the east-GTA room and Mohawk sits west in the Halton direction, so an east-end player and a west-end player will draw very different one-hour circles. Put your own address into a map app at the time you'd actually leave.

Kilometres are the last thing to check

A closer room that's closed, doesn't spread your game or has a long wait isn't the better option. Work in this order:

  1. Schedule. Is the room dealing when you want to play? On Monday to Wednesday, Mohawk drops out, leaving Toronto and Pickering.
  2. Game. Does it publish your stake or format? Use the stakes matrix and the room comparison. If you want PLO, Toronto publishes the broadest menu. If you want a weekly tournament, Pickering's program is the obvious look.
  3. Live list. Is the game actually running, and how long is the wait?
  4. Traffic. Now check the route.

Three example nights

Tuesday, $1/$3 after work

Mohawk isn't open, so it's Toronto or Pickering. Both deal 24/7, so there's no rush. Let the worst of rush hour pass, check both lists at 7, and go wherever your game has the shorter wait.

Saturday, $2/$5 deep

All three rooms are open. Mohawk's $2/$3 and $3/$5 match-the-stack games are a reason to look west if you like deep stacks and don't mind the 4 a.m. close. Otherwise compare lists across all three.

Late Sunday, PLO

Toronto first, since it publishes multiple Omaha and PLO formats and doesn't close. Pickering also publishes Omaha, so check its list as a backup.

Always have a fallback

Even a nearby room can have a long wait or no table in your game. Go in with a second acceptable room or a second acceptable stake. If $2/$5 has 12 names ahead of you, will you take a $1/$3 seat while you wait, or drive to the other room? Decide before you leave. We don't have real-time seat counts, so the live list and the podium get the final word. See our live list guide.
