Which room should you choose?
Staying in Toronto
Start with Great Canadian Toronto. It saves you a drive across the GTA and publishes the broadest Toronto game menu.
East of Toronto
Pickering is usually the practical first check, and it adds a recurring tournament schedule.
West of Toronto
Mohawk can be far more practical than crossing the GTA, as long as its Thursday to Sunday schedule fits.
Already in Niagara
Casino Niagara is the verified poker room. Fallsview does not currently offer Texas Hold'em poker.
How to use the comparison
Work through it in this order:
- Where are you starting from? A room forty minutes closer usually beats a bigger room across the city, especially on a weeknight.
- What game do you want? If it's No-Limit Hold'em at the lowest stakes, the three GTA rooms all publish $1/$3. If you want limit poker, Brantford publishes a $4/$8 Limit entry point. Omaha players should look at Great Canadian Toronto first. See Omaha poker.
- What day is it? Mohawk runs Thursday to Sunday. A Tuesday-night plan in the west end needs a different room.
- Is the game running? Check PokerAtlas, call, or use the room's own system before you leave.
A note on limit poker at Brantford
Brantford's published entry point is $4/$8 Limit Hold'em, which plays differently from the no-limit games elsewhere. In a $4/$8 limit game, bets and raises come in fixed amounts: $4 before the flop and on the flop, $8 on the turn and river. You can't move all in or bet whatever you like. Swings are smaller, more hands go to showdown, and bluffing works less often. If you're used to no-limit, expect to call more on the river and to win by value betting rather than big bluffs.
